Apprentices to benefit from intensive training

A new mentoring program offered by the Federal Government aims to improve apprenticeship completion rates by offering a positive incentive to apprentices
in industries undergoing structural change.

The Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices (SMAA) program aims to build on support offered by the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network
and increase retention and completion rates. Mentoring services will be provided to apprentices in a diverse range of industries including automotive
repair, mining, tourism, construction and health using mentors to run one-on-one sessions with the apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge
of the industry. So far, 24 organisations have signed up to be involved in the program.
