Australian 5G Innovation Initiative

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications is seeking industry input into the Australian 5G Innovation Initiative, a program which will assist businesses to test and develop 5G applications, services and products.
A discussion paper has been released, with feedback to inform the development of guidelines for a grants program that will fund trials of the 5G system.
The information gained through the consultation will shape the network’s future so it is important for stakeholders to represent a broad cross-section, reflecting the needs of the region’s geography and diversity.
5G has the potential to deliver many benefits across different sectors and to meet community needs.
Interested companies and organisations are encouraged to respond to the discussion paper, as well as apply for the initiative when applications open in February 2021.
