EXPORT HUB GRANTED FOR RDA ORANA

8 April 2019

Regional Development Australia Orana Chairman John Walkom & the RDA Orana Committee are pleased that the Commonwealth Government have granted RDA Orana with the opportunity to establish a new Export Hub in the region.

"This is a great outcome for the region, the funding for this hub will boost the economy by getting more businesses to access new and expanding markets and will be integral to creating business growth in the region, Mr Walkom said.

"The project will establish an Export Hub which will principally focus on the support and development of Mining Equipment Technologies and Service Industry participants in the Orana and Central West,

Mr Walkom said, "Special thanks to Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, and Member for Parkes Mark Coulton for his support during the application process as well as Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee,

"The opportunity stems from the Federal Government's Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Export Hub program, designed to support the development of export hubs of local, regional and Indigenous brands through business collaborations,

"The program will include the Orana and the Central West, incorporating the major mining regions of Cobar, Dubbo, Mudgee, Orange, Peak Hill, Parkes and Condoblin," Mr Walkom said.

Regional Development Australia Orana Director Megan Dixon said export development has been a key pillar for RDA Orana over the past year and this funding provides a unique opportunity for expansion and prosperity in the region,

"The region is proud of its economic heritage found on a strong base of agriculture and resources but this new export hub will build on the foundation strengthening and creating growth for the Mining, Equipment, Technology and Services Industry," Mrs Dixon said.

The next step for RDA Orana will be hiring a local Export Development Manager to support the program.
