Inland Rail's Narromine to Narrabri leg on track

The Narromine to Narrabri section of the Inland Rail project is underway, with the Australian Rail Track Corporation awarding a $13.5M works contract
to begin this section of the groundbreaking 1700km project. JacobsGHD IR Joint Venture will undertake feasibility design work, which forms a crucial
part of the engineering component of the job.

Orana RDA Director of Regional Development Megan Dixon was pleased to see the Inland Rail project begin, as it will bring multiple benefits to the
region.

“Inland Rail will bring prosperity to these country communities, which are usually reliant on their agricultural ties. This infrastructure will boost
economic development during construction and will bring jobs and opportunities into the future.

“There is already evidence of the available benefits, with the pending construction of the Parkes to Narromine line already having a visible impact.”

Minister for Finance Mathias Cormann said the feasibility design contract is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to strengthen private sector
investment in regional communities.

“There is plenty of community interest in the design of Inland Rail,” Senator Cormann said.

“As these contracts are awarded and feasibility designs progress, more detail will become

available, building on preliminary investigations and community engagement already carried

out by the ARTC.”
