A record number of people have visited Taronga Western Plains Zoo during the recent school holidays.

During the two weeks there were more than 28,000 guests who visited the attraction, 43% higher then the same school holidays in 2018.

The tourism industry is essential to the Orana economy, and tourism attractions in the Orana including the zoo are a major asset the the local economy, especially during tough times like the drought.

When visitors come to see the zoo they also stay overnight in the city, visit other attractions, buy dinner, breakfast or coffee, fill up on fuel, go to the movies and overall help support the businesses in our region.
