Water Summit success

10 February 2020

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana Director of Regional Development Megan Dixon was thrilled to welcome over 100 attendees to the second annual Inland Growth Summit on January 30th.

Mrs Dixon said, "It was fantastic to have attendance from a cross-section of Government, Industry and the local community on the day,"

"The theme was all about the future of water, the opportunities and innovative techniques that are occurring around us in terms of water management, reuse innovation and change management.

"Our keynote speaker Dr Geoff Beeson, Honorary Professor for Deakin University, set the context for the day, touching on over 65,000 years of practised sustainable water management,"

Common themes that came out of the day included clear and consistent long-term policies from government, recycling wastewater, changing the narrative for inland Australia, and community engagement and education on renewable and sustainable practices.

"Thank you to our local Members the Hon Mark Coulton MP, and Mr Dugald Saunders MP for their contributions to the day."

"The Summit would not have been possible without our sponsors Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Charles Sturt University, University of Sydney, Atom Consulting, NSW Farmers, Bridge Hub, Watermin Drillers, Quality Inn Dubbo, and North Construction."

Planning is already underway for the 2021 Inland Growth Summit.
